Seagrass meadows provide critical nursery habitat for marine vertebrates and invertebrates and provide the foundation of life in coastal waters.

Stakeholders (anglers, recreational boaters, commerical fisherman, hunters) can make a difference and contribute to the health of seagrass beds by engaging in habitat friendly boating behavior. When boating near or through shallow seagrass meadows:

- Use marked channel and boat lanes
- Lift your motor
- Use a trolling motor if applicable
- Pole, paddle or drift over shallow beds
- Educate fellow stakeholders
